Introduction to Group:

"Welcome morning, everyone. Today, we're going to engage in a mindfulness exercise called Light Play. This activity focuses on observing how light interacts with the environment around us. It’s a wonderful way to bring our attention to the present and appreciate the beauty of ordinary moments. Let’s begin."

Instructions for Leading the Group:

  1. Find a Comfortable Position: "Please find a comfortable seat where you can view your surroundings easily. Make sure you feel relaxed and supported in your position. Rest your hands on your lap."

  2. Close Your Eyes: "Let’s start by gently closing our eyes or just softening our gaze. Take a moment to settle into this space, allowing your body to relax with each breath."

  3. Deep Breaths: "Take three deep breaths together. Inhale slowly and deeply, then exhale slowly, letting go of any tension or preoccupations you might be carrying."

  4. Open Your Eyes and Observe: "Now, gently open your eyes and let them rest lightly on the area in front of you. Observe how the light falls on different surfaces. Notice the play of shadows and highlights."

  5. Shift Your Focus: "Shift your gaze to see how light interacts with colors and textures around you. Observe how the light changes the appearance of objects. Do colors seem brighter where the light hits them directly? How do shadows enhance shapes and textures?"

  6. Reflect on the Quality of Light: "Take a moment to reflect on the quality of the light. Is it soft and diffused, or is it sharp and clear? How does this light make you feel? Try to connect your feelings with the type of light you are observing."

  7. Notice Subtle Changes: "If you’re near a window, notice how the movement outside can affect the light inside. Watch how subtle changes in light can alter the mood and feel of the space."

  8. Close Your Eyes Again: "Close your eyes once more and visualize the light you just observed. Picture the way it played across surfaces, bringing life and energy to the space."

  9. Deep Breath and Close: "Take another deep breath, and as you exhale, slowly bring your attention back to the room. When you’re ready, open your eyes."
